The December meeting of the Arran Natural History Society took place on Thursday December 8 in the Rangers Centre in Brodick Country Park where the speaker was Keith Betton.
Keith, a passionate birdwatcher and conservationist, is vice-president of the British Trust for Ornithology. He is a keen birder having seen more than 7,900 species in 102 countries, and is one of only six people to have seen one of the world’s rarest pipits. He has a particular passion for Africa, having been chairman of the African Bird Club for the past seven years.
In the UK, he is heavily involved in bird monitoring in Hampshire, where he is county recorder. His latest book is Behind the Binoculars.
