The importance of putting perfect aside
The culture of perfectionism runs deep through many of us. We are taught from a young age that if something’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well. There are so many phrases extolling the virtues of ‘going big or going home’.
Those of us who fail to reach perfect are often called out and shamed. How many times have I heard people, in response to someone trying a plant-based diet, give reasons as to why that person could fail? ‘They can’t be vegan because they have leather shoes’, for example. The point is that at least that person is trying. They’re making a start.
