Rungvisai inexplicably fought a good part of the fight right-handed instead of boxing in his natural southpaw stance. Leonard knew from experience, when 32 years ago his great rival Marvin Hagler did something similar, allowing the Sugar Man to race to a lead he never relinquished. While Leonard has fond memories of that night, Rungvisai will not look back kindly on this one, in which the Thai dropped his WBC super-flyweight title to Mexico’s Juan Francisco Estrada by unanimous 12-round decision in front of 5,127 at the Forum (Matchroom promoted). The scorecards of judges – Craig Metcalfe and Gerald Ritter both 115- 113, Alejandro Rochin 116-112 - were generous to the defending champion, who was given most of the later rounds.
