AMIR KHAN PROMOTIONS continues to provide ‘bucket list’ moments for veteran British boxers with his push into Africa. This time, in the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, it was the turn of Lewisham’s former British, European and Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion Dan Azeez, a man of Nigerian heritage who jumped at the chance to perform in Lagos.
Similarly, when Khan promoted in Ghana in June, Ohara Davies came out of retirement for a one-off shot at fighting in his parents’ homeland.
In Azeez’s case, though, this not just a box to tick. Even at 36, he remains focused on his fighting future, aiming for one more title run.
