Increase in planning application fees
As of the 1st April, planning application fees have increased sharply to reflect the aims set out in the 2024 National Planning Policy Framework. Householder applications (which cover proposals to alter or extend a house) have risen from £258 to £528, for instance, while a discharge of conditions for a householder development has doubled to £86. Annual rises in line with inflation, have also been introduced. The jury’s out on whether the rise will bring improvements in resourcing and approval rates.
