Village Makers has gained outline planning permission in rural Essex for 51 homes as part of a new custom build initiative. The scheme, called Oakley Orchards, is a joint venture between the developer and Pete Thompson, a local landowner and farmer.
Prices for plots will range from £50,000 to £310,000, with the construction of a new house starting at £140,000. Buyers will be able to choose their plot and dwelling design along with freedom to specify an array of features such as balconies, bay windows and internal layout. “There are six designs to choose from”, says Bob Timlinson from Village Makers. “The interiors can be built to individual specifications to suit the taste and needs of homeowners.” The properties will be erected using sustainable construction methods.
