Campbeltown’s community radio station has received £25,000 to widen its reach to south Kintyre and Southend. The station has benefited from the Scottish and Southern Electricity Network’s (SSEN) Resilient Communities Fund.
Argyll FM is an independent community radio station, run entirely by dedicated volunteers, which broadcasts mainly locally produced programmes 24 hours a day. During the storms of 2013, the radio station helped to keep the community up-to-date with status reports on the progress of power restoration.
Colin Middleton, chairman of Argyll FM, said: ‘Argyll FM Community Radio and the people of South Kintyre would like to thank SSEN for giving us the funds to provide a local radio service into a remote rural peninsula. ‘This part of Kintyre has poor TV, radio and mobile phone coverage.
