Down memory lane

THE ROYAL College of Nursing’s (RCN) head of engagement and campaigns contacted the Courier looking for pictures and reminiscences of 1947’s great snow.

Sarah Abley searched the RCN archives before Christmas looking for snowy pictures. She found notes by the late Campbeltown district nurse, Mary Smith (née Semple), latterly of Ardbay, Machrihanish. Ms Abley also contacted Campbeltown Heritage Centre’s Marlyn Moffat, who remembered a two-part Courier story, from March 1997, written by Mrs Smith when she was 86.
