The BBC’s Desert Island Discs is one of my all-time favourite radio shows, and over lockdown I’ve found myself raiding their archive. And I’m always delighted when I find the unexpected castaway who has a secret penchant for rock. It also gets me thinking about what my own desert island choices would be (I imagine everyone does this). Impossible, right? Only eight songs? That’s just cruel. Surely we should be allowed eight albums, and even that would be a ridiculously tough ask… But if the premise was albums over songs, I know for damn sure what one of them would be, and that’s the album we’re celebrating in this month’s issue; an album that’s celebrating its halfcentury in 2021; a little record most commonly known as Led Zeppelin IV.
