MÖTLEY CRÜE AND their current guitarist John 5 have begun recording new music with producer Bob Rock, which seems to be final proof that the band’s relationship with co-founding guitarist Mick Mars has reached an end. Hostilities between Mars and Crüe escalated after the guitarist, who last year stepped back from touring duties due to having ankylosing spondylitis, claimed to have been forced out. In the fallout, Crüe accused Mars of making mistakes on stage, while Mars alleged that bassist Nikki Sixx, singer Vince Neil and drummer Tommy Lee have all used pre-recorded backing tracks.
Mars gave a remarkable interview to Variety, in which he claimed the band had been trying to get rid of him “since 1987” and that he had “carried those bastards for years”, and vowed not to give up his rights to a fair share of royalties without a fight.
