TIP OF THE FORTNIGHT
Set tasks for right and middle clicks in GIMP
Seven years is a long time to wait for a substantial update to GIMP (www.gimp.org), but version 3.0 seems to have been worth it (Issue 707, page 18). Digging into the settings, I’ve found a new way to change what happens when you click the right and middle buttons on your mouse.
Click Edit at the top then Preferences. Now click Canvas Interaction on the left followed by Modifiers ( 1 in our screenshot). Next, click where it says ‘Click here to set a button’s modifiers’ 2 – making sure you click either the middle or right mouse button. Now click the dropdown menu and select what you want that button to do 3 . I’ve set my middle button to display GIMP’s menu and my right button to zoom. There are several other useful options, such as rotating and changing the brush size.
