Nothing Phone 3

Much ado about something
Having made its name with distinctive mid-range smartphones, UK firm Nothing has now moved upmarket with the Phone 3. Some will love its industrial style, with its semi-transparent back, protruding camera lenses and illuminated dot-matrix display in the top-right corner, but others may find it ugly. Even though it’s much the same size as the OnePlus 15 (see Issue 725, page 24) and only 1mm thicker, it still feels chunky in the hand.
Provides photos with eye-catching quality and superb close-up detail
You can customise the tiny matrix display on the rear to show a stopwatch or the current battery level, or even to play a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Meanwhile, a new side button – the Essential key – can capture screenshots or video with a single press, ready to be sent to Nothing’s Essential Space: an AI tool that can analyse any stored images, notes and voice recordings. It’s just a shame that it can be so easily confused with a power button.
