Well that wasn't what was expected. The General Election has left us with a hung parliament – so more uncertainty to deal with as we head into talks with the European Union over Brexit. The mandate that Prime Minster Theresa May wanted to strengthen her hand didn't materialise and has left her weakened. We shall have to wait and see what the coming weeks bring. In this issue we look back at the London Stationery Show 2017, its most successful ever. We find out who took away the top awards at the show and what some of the exhibitors thought about how it went this year. We also examine all things sewing. I talk to Great British Sewing Bee contestant, quilter, designer and author Stuart Hillard about his life, future plans and how he found his love of sewing. There is also an interview with Mr X Stitch himself - Jamie Chalmers. We find out about his efforts to bring contemporary embroidery and needlecraft to a larger audience. I also got the chance to speak to TV presenter and business woman Kirstie Allsopp –
it's not all Location, Location, Location, as I am sure you are aware, especially if you watched her Handmade series. We discuss her love of craft, life and what's coming next. There is also five minutes with Sarah Payne –
she talks quilting and the Himalayas! I hope you enjoy reading this issue.

Craft Business is more than just a B2B magazine; it is an industry institution that for more than 12 years has uncovered the latest trade launches and sales trends, while offering business advice aimed directly at the specialist craft and hobby retailer.

Published eight times a year and supported by our popular online resource, CraftBusiness.com – the magazine covers all markets relevant to its readership including papercraft; stitching and haberdashery; jewellery and beading; knitting; general arts and crafts; and media, digital and online information. In-depth features exploring profit opportunities across the industry are complemented by advice from retail experts, comments from market leaders, and fresh perspectives from retailers themselves. Drawing on the experiences of these diverse voices, Craft Business reflects the challenges facing today's craft retailers and offers inspiration, innovation and support for their growth.

In addition to the magazine, back in 2012 Craft Business was able to take advantage of its position in the market and launched the only annual directory for the Craft & Hobby industry, comprehensively listing companies in the industry in one easy-to-use guide, available in both print and online.
