Creating calm
Chris Nowell has a change of pace after leaving the army
In 2007, I sustained severe injuries while serving in Afghanistan. (I completed tours of Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan with the British Army.) I was injured by a Taliban rocket, which left me with neurological memory loss and sight loss. Conversations about photography now always begin with the same question: how does a blind person take photographs? Photography was a path to rehabilitation for me – and with determination, practice and time, I have become the blind landscape photographer that I am today.
