How to land your dream job

We spend, on average, a third of our lives at work. Which is rather depressing, when studies suggest that only 30% of us ever find our dream job and most of us are miserable, with as many as half of the UK workforce admitting they’d rather be in a different career. So how can we change that, and make our working lives more fulfilling? We asked DIVA readers who have managed to land their dream job how they did it. Here’s what you told us.

Busted my in college while working in a group home and tending bar on the side to support my son. I refused to become another statistic just because I had my first child at 17. Now, 20 years later, I am still working for the same company as a social worker in the medical field. I love what I do! It certainly isn’t glamorous and doesn’t pay well but I get to make a difference.
