Stairway to hell!

While stranded on Earth and waiting for Amy to rescue him, the Doctor finds himself a home, gets a job – and discovers some disturbing alien technology...

With pizza, booze and telly all present and correct, the Time Team are ready and eager to find out where Doctor Who will take them this week…

“Stuff the fifth moon of Sinda Callista,” says Emma, “we’re in Colchester!” She considers this prospect, before deciding that nobody really needs to go to Colchester. “Least of all the Doctor.”

Michael is also a little underwhelmed by the location for The Lodger, the Doctor and Amy Pond’s latest exciting, non-space space adventure. “The only way is Essex, it seems,” he notes.

“That’s the first mention of Ryman’s in Doctor Who, though,” says stationery fan Will, trying to look on the bright side.

Amy finds herself flying solo in the TARDIS when it swiftly dematerialises with just her inside.

“Did the old girl just boot the Doctor out?” asks Chris. “Finally sick of his nonsense! Mind you, after 11 lifetimes – she’s been awfully patient.”

Elsewhere in boring old Colchester, some very non-boring things are starting to happen... A rather sad-looking teen is slouching past 79 Aickman Road, when he hears a desperate, disembodied voice emanating from the intercom, claiming there’s been an accident.

“Never go into a stranger’s house, kids,” warns Will. The lad ignores this sound advice, because he’s inside the telly and can’t hear Will.

Chris is more suspicious of how spacious the hallway is than the spooky middle-aged geezer who appears at the top of the stairs. “Now, I’ve lived in a multi-flat house and they are nowhere near that roomy. I call TARDIS!”
