SILENT HILL: TOWNFALL
SILENT HILL: TOWNFALL
Developer Screen Burn Interactive Publisher Konami Format PC, PS5 Release September 24
M ore than a homage to PT or an effort to emulate the modern era of Resident Evil, Silent Hill: Townfall’s firstperson perspective is designed to create maximum authenticity. Screen Burn Interactive’s goal, says studio co-founder Jon McKellan, is to faithfully recreate a Scottish coastal town during the mid-’90s, and making room to accommodate a thirdperson camera would have entailed creating interiors that were larger than their real-world counterparts. Instead, by putting us directly behind the eyes of protagonist Simon, the team has been able to rebuild the homes of its collective childhood with mathematical accuracy: during research trips, Screen Burn measured the dimensions of a typical terraced house right down to the depths of the drawers, and used those numbers to build Townfall’s eerie interiors to scale.
