Inside Lunaz: Where Automotive Heritage Meets Tomorrow’s Technology
WORDS AND PHOTOS BY JEROME ANDRE
WITH their roots firmly planted in Silverstone, a place synonymous with racing heritage and technical innovation, Lunaz is set to export its vision globally.
AS we drive into the outskirts of Silverstone, UK, home to the iconic British racetrack, a different kind of engineering marvel unfolds at Lunaz. Founded in 2018 by David Lorenz and later joined by Jon Hilton, former Renault F1 technical director, Lunaz has embarked on a pioneering journey. Here, the past is not just preserved; it’s reinvigorated with the pulse of the future.
Our visit to Lunaz’s headquarters immediately reveals a seamless blend of tradition and innovation. The facility, absolutely buzzing with action, is where automotive history is lovingly preserved and transformed. Classic cars like Rolls Royce, Bentley, and Jaguar, each a symbol of timeless elegance, are being meticulously restored. Yet, beneath their classic exteriors, a revolution brews – these beauties are being equipped with state-of-the-art, inhouse developed electric powertrains and battery packs. As Lorenz, shares, “We’re not just restoring cars; we’re ensuring they can be driven and cherished for generations to come, but in a way that’s relevant for the 21st century.”
''It’s about rethinking how we approach the lifecycle of vehicles: We’re not just converting them; we’re giving them a new lease of life.
