Young spunkers unite, as Kawasaki have updated the Ninja range for 2018 with a brand new 400cc model that will come equipped with not only a more powerful engine, but also a lighter chassis than its predecessor. Kawasaki claim that the brand new 399cc engine and subsequently larger airbox will combine to produce a meaningful 45bhp, and pack 40% more torque (at 8,000rpm) than the Ninja 300 it replaces. New throttle bodies and better mapping technology is assured to offer a smoother and more linear power delivery over its predecessor, made all the sweeter thanks to the fitment of a new assist and slipper clutch.
Kawasaki say that the new lightweight steel trellis frame has a similar design to that of the brand’s flagship H2, and by using the engine as a stressed member it’s been possible to keep weight at a minimum, meaning the new baby Ninja comes in at just 168kg (kerb weight). The price is yet to be confirmed but Kawasaki’s said the model will be in showrooms from February 2018, available in Metallic Spark Black, or a KRT green edition.
