We’ve known for decades that smoking is incredibly harmful and that quitting, or never starting in the first place, is one of the best things you can do to protect your health.
Governments around the world have taken steps to push smoking out of the circle of normal and socially acceptable behaviours and expose it for what it is: a deadly addiction. High tobacco taxes, graphic visual warnings on packages, bans on smoking in workplaces and the end of glamorous cigarette advertising campaigns have all played a part in bringing smoking rates down.
