Make like a bear
No, we haven’t gone mad. The fitness world is going crazy for crawling, and by that we mean recreating animalistic movements from the likes of crabs, scorpions and bears. This kind of functional training improves strength, balance and cardiac fitness. You’ll feel the burn, and it boosts mobility. Plus, it makes you engage your core, and strengthens often-neglected smaller muscles, beneficial for posture. In the States they’re even putting on events (Crawl In the Mall, anyone?) and where our friends across the pond lead, we tend to follow. But you don’t have to literally crawl across the floor, just try moves like crab toe touches, bear crawl or gecko planks in the comfort of your own zoo, er, home!
