A new frame of mind

I can’t thank you enough for your mind issue (September). In March this year, I was diagnosed with anxiety and, for a long time, I felt alone, unsure if other people understood how I felt. Thanks to the articles included, especially ‘Your healthy mind protection plan’, I now have a better understanding of what I am going through. I only went to see a doctor when I was at the point of desperation – I felt I was living in a dense fog. Reading your feature taught me that I am not the only one who puts others first, sacrificing my own needs in the process. It’s a relief to know there are ways to help improve my mood and make self care part of my daily life. It’s a struggle for me to tell people how I really feel – it’s easy for people who don’t have any idea of what you’re going through to say that it’s ‘all in your mind’ and to ‘pull yourself together’. I really hope that the stigma of having mental health issues will soon be changed for the better.
