The future is, you guessed it, red, judging by the glowing visors radiating from our social-media feeds as well as the souped-up saunas in the gym.
Light-emitting diode (LED) masks beloved of stars such as Victoria Beckham and Chrissy Teigen have become the new social-media flex and have even infiltrated pop culture, with CurrentBody’s Light Therapy Face Mask featuring in an episode of Emily in Paris.
“Advances in both LED and infrared technology have led to more efficient, portable and affordable at-home devices,” says Katie Mant, co-founder and chief visionary officer of Bon Charge, the wellness tech brand praised by Kourtney Kardashian.

Meanwhile, infrared saunas are springing up everywhere, from hipster gyms to public pools such as London’s Brockwell Lido. They have been cited by Lady Gaga as a way to ease her fibromyalgia pain, while Gwyneth Paltrow swears by 20 minutes a day in hers. Indeed, at-home infrared saunas are all the rage, with apartment-friendly versions catering to those of us who don’t own Hollywood mansions.
