How to edit and share your HDR movies
How to shoot, edit and share High Dynamic Range footage on an iPhone 12 model
With the release of the iPhone 12 range you can now capture HDR (High Dynamic Range) footage. The new 10-bit Dolby Vision format enables you to create clips that boast a wider contrast range and feature more detail and colour than you’ll see in the 8-bit SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) clips captured by older iPhone models. However, because HDR clips feature more tones and colours than most devices can reproduce, they can look over-exposed and garishly coloured. To view the full range of colour and tone in an HDR clip you need a compatible display (such as the iPhone 12 Pro’s Super Retina XDR OLED screen). We’ll show you how to shoot and edit HDR clips and then share them in a format that can be viewed on any device.
