34 Amazing Mac tricks
The coolest features of macOS that you’ve probably forgotten all about!
Apple has always prided itself on the intuitiveness of its operating systems, so much so that conventional instruction manuals have never been bundled with its hardware. Of course, the ‘Help’ option is ever-present in your Mac’s menu bar and it is from here that you will gain intricate knowledge of the many facets of macOS, should you take thetime to explore it. But who’s got time for that? Sometimes we just want to fast-track to the cool stuff, the super-clever features that many of us stumble across by accident, and iCreate boasts a rich history of showcasing such nuggets. So, with the closing of 2021, we felt it was the perfect time to compile some of these tricks so that you can enter the new year fully-armed with the knowledge needed to get the most out of your Mac.
01 Sign PDFs straight from Mail
If you’re emailed a form to sign, you don’t have to print it out, sign it and re-scan it – you can do it all on your Mac without a tree getting harmed in the process. You just need an iPhone!
02 Share your screen in Messages
Who could forget this feature? Well, a lot actually, because its purpose in everyday life doesn’t extend much further than troubleshooting problems for less tech-savvy people. While in a Messages conversation, click on the ‘i’ icon in the top corner and then click on the ‘Share’ icon that shows two screens.
03 Create a web app
You can drag and drop a URL from Safari into your Dock (to the right where your open and recently-used apps reside), meaning that you can simultaneously launch Safari and jump straight to that site. It’s easier if you drag it from Bookmarks in the sidebar.
04 Copy and paste text with style
We all know the cmd+C, cmd+V copy and paste shortcuts, but if you press option+shift+cmd+V when pasting, the text will be pasted in the style of the content that already exists within the document. This is a good time saver that prevents you then having to restyle the text manually within the app.
