Blaze’s Diary

Finally, at last, we were led tae a wooden shed… well, like a wee chalet, and aye, that’s where we were put intae

Wel, we got af the island for the first time in a guid while. Dad had been booked on an archery course way back at the start of lockdown, but that was postponed due tae the Covid.

However, at last, it was deemed safe enough last month to attend, so it went ahead and we sped tae the metropolis of lights, otherwise known as Grantown on Spey.

Oh, how enthralled we were. It’s not got one, but two chipshops.

We were the first of the group to arrive early evening and were guided up a long farm track, until we reached the destination of our accommodation to be, consisting of a large farmhouse with a braw wee cottage next to it.

As we were in situ, it fell to us to take responsibility in showing where the other new arrivals would be bunked once they turned up.

Due to Covid restrictions, the big hoose, that in normal times would sleep about 40 folk was reduced to just 4, each with their ain room. It looked lovely and cozy and had proper inside toilets and showers. That however was NOT where we were instructed to stay.

Next, we were led to the bonny wee cottage. That was even nicer than the big hoose though, as in addition tae the loo and showers, it even had it’s own private kitchen.

That was also NOT where we would stay as that was reserved for the lassie who was on the course.

Finally, at last, we were led tae a wooden shed…well, like a wee chalet, and aye, that’s where we were put intae.

Truth be told though, it suited us jist fine as, just like at home, it meant we were able to sleep with the outside door wide open just as we usually do.
