Although Parachute is a WIP project, it’s already very a capable desktop viewer.
The cornerstone of desktop productivity is being able to work with several applications without losing concentration. Linux desktops are renowned for being well suited for multitasking, whatever desktop is being used: Plasma, Gnome, Cinnamon, XFCE and so on. One way to keep track of open windows is an app grid, or app overview. This desktop effect was originally borrowed from OS X, but these days Linux has more options and flavours of an app overview than anything else.
