10 Rocking the Docklands
Few corners of London have seen as many highs and lows as Docklands: from Victorian glory days as the greatest port in the world to the spectacular fop of the Millennium Dome. Fortunately, good times are here again. Leading the charge is Craft London, a three-storey temple to modern British cooking. You’ll fnd a café downstairs, which roasts its own coffee beans, and on the top foor is a cocktail bar where inventive drinks are magicked up from seasonal ingredients. The Tom Dixon-designed restaurant on the second foor is the main event here though. Chef Stevie Parle, of Dock Kitchen and Rotorino fame, concocts extraordinary dishes using the best-quality, most local produce possible (honey will soon come from the hives you can just spy from your restaurant table). Don’t miss the chicken in bone broth with kombucha egg if they have it: never has chicken tasted so divine. You’re unlikely to stop gazing at the food, but the view of Canary Wharf across the water is a nice distraction.
