Recently, Apple and Google (with support from Samsung) announced a plan to create a new framework so that unwanted tracking devices, such as AirTags or Tile devices, can be detected by any phone, whether it’s iOS or Android, and warn you that someone is following your movements. I find it strange that it’s happening this slowly, long after AirTag stalking made it into the news, and with only a draft proposal submitted now that may turn into something final at the end of the year. Of course, I realise that it takes time to plan and negotiate changes between two tech giants, but the Covid exposure frameworks were integrated into phones much more quickly than this, and was a similar cross-platform system.
