A Thechoice is between backing up locally to your Mac or Windows PC, or remotely to iCloud. Deciding which is better is more involved. If you already store much of your iPhone’s data in iCloud, and have ample free space there, that’s likely to be more convenient. With Messages in iCloud and iCloud Photos, and your apps set to use iCloud syncing, there isn’t much to back up, as most of your data is already stored in iCloud.
