DOES APPLE STILL UPDATE SAFARI IN BIG SUR?
Apple provides security fixes including Safari updates for the current and two previous major macOS. Big Sur’s last security update came in
September 2023, and the latest version of
Safari it can run is 16.6.1. If you can upgrade to
Monterey, that will provide Safari 17 and another year of security–only support.
DOES SPOTLIGHT SEARCH FILES STORED IN iCLOUD?
Spotlight can only index and search files stored in iCloud Drive when held locally. If Optimize Mac Storage is enabled, and the local download has been removed or “evicted”, then it’s removed from Spotlight’s indexes and its contents can’t be found until it’s downloaded and re–indexed.
