This lockdown, most people seem to agree, is harder than the others. Some experts have put this down to the dampening of our ‘fight or flight’ survival mechanism. To begin with, the coronavirus crisis places us on high alert: proactive, productive, desperate to bake banana bread. But that adrenaline-fuelled response – heightening the senses in dangerous situations – was not designed to last this long. Now, after an entire year, we’re all just, well, over it.
