ORANGE GOBLIN HAVE steadily and stealthily become a British metal institution. While their blend of stoner riffs and psychedelic sonic textures was never intended to be groundbreaking, they’ve maintained a high and consistent level of quality throughout their 25-year tenure (26 if you’re being pedantic). And while it feels as if Orange Goblin have been a part of the metal landscape forever, it also seems faintly preposterous to think that they’re seeing in their first quarter century.
London’s premier stoner act have had to postpone their 25th anniversary celebrations a number of times already due to… oh, surely you know why by now. But none of that matters anymore, because live music’s back, baby, even if for the moment in a more civilised, seated-at-tables environment rather than the piles of heaving, sweaty bodies that The Dome is usually more accustomed to. So it’s not your typical Orange Goblin live experience, but who cares? The beer is flowing, spirits are high and the sense of anticipation for what will be many punters’ first live experience in over a year is palpable.
