KIT: ITALERI SCALE: I/72

Fernando Grannell returns with some modelling nostalgia.

This article is about one of those classic kits we have all built or had in our stashes. Initially released by ESCI Ertl in 1976 (ref. 8321), the Morris Quad it is a classic kit for fans of small scale. It is marketed by Italeri, aimed at both for modellers and wargamers, but we can still see the ‘Esci’ stamp on the plastic sprues. I used their 2005 release that also includes a 25pdr gun and ammunition limber, as well as a driver and gun crew. Nevertheless, these moulds have stood the test of time and compare well to many more recent kits that in theory should be of better quality.

Let’s Put it Together

The Morris Quad was assembled without any problems. The only small improvements I made was to remove the excess plastic from the two small windows on the sides of the roof. I used Evergreen flat rods to make the edges of the roof that I had to redo as the originals were damaged when sanding the frames of the small windows. I added some railings to the back of the roof where some equipment will be placed (photo 1).
