Snapseed Tutorial: How to Add a Depth of Field Bokeh Effect to your photos
By Andy Butler
Snapseed is probably one of the most popular photo editing apps for mobile photography. It’s free and simple to use and has a lot of tools and filters that allow photographers to edit their images quickly and easily with impressive results.
While most people only really use Snapseed for basic edits, by delving a bit deeper, you can use Snapseed to get a bit more creative. For example, let’s say you take a photo, but it lacks depth, or the subject isn’t standing out as much as you’d like. You can use Snapseed to add some separation between your subject and the background by following a few easy steps.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to do just this and add depth of field bokeh to your photos. I will be demonstrating this on an iPad, but the process is exactly the same on a smartphone (iPhone or Android), so let’s get started.
Step 1: Select and Open the Photo in Snapseed
The first step is to open Snapseed and select the photo that you would like to blur the background.
