‘Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.’ (Hebrews 12:12)
THE New Testament is witness to a buoyant time for the Christian faith. It was spreading like wildfire, gripping the imagination of people all over the Mediterranean world. Yet it was not all sunshine and roses. There were some who had ‘drooping hands’ and ‘weak knees’. There was need for endurance.

The direction of world affairs, especially if you are suffering from Brexit blues or Trump torture, can leave us despondent. In church life, we face perhaps one of the hardest times to keep the faith since the days of Columba. In our own personal and family lives, few of us can escape the times when we feel demoralised and defeated.
