Much Loved Burrell Returns
Paul Richie looks at a much loved Burrell single-crank compound, Dauntless, that was back on the road for the 2022 Great Dorset Steam Fair.
In our news section we look at Burrell showman’s Victory from the Thursford Collection that’s being repaired at Craftmaster Restorations under Jamie Allen’s skilled hands and is due to be completed in late June. We look at a Ransomes traction engine No. 27277 that was renamed Kathleen on 29 October and report on the Innishannon Rally and how it’s all going for 2023.
We look at Foden’s The Dorset Wanderer, which is back on the road and the sale of 1920 No. 10320, which has been sold to Tom Attwood.
We look ahead to the Sussex Steam Engine Club’s 30 year celebration on 10-11 June at The Plough, Plumpton Green; they say do bring your vehicle along. We also hear about the Easter steam event at the Sandstone Estate on 7-10 April in South Africa.
Mike Neale looks at all that’s new on the diecast model scene and we hear from the Science Museum and all what they plan at their Wroughton site, which they say will be open to the public in 2024. We look at Fowler ploughing engine No. 15430 Victory and Fowler No. 14712 Wilbur’s new boiler is all on!
In this month’s Railway Roundabout David Vaughan looks at The Old Kiln Railway in Surrey, which has been in existence since 1982 and in our Miniature section Sally Clifford meets design engineer James Stanley and his two Wallis & Steevens Simplicity rollers. When it comes to fairgrounds David Vaughan looks in this extended article at the Stevens family and their fleet of rides and vehicles from the WW2 post war era onwards.
For our events feature, we look at Welland Steam and Countryside Show which sold out on the Saturday and at the Torbay Steam Fair. Nick Baldwin looks at the Ruston & Hornsby car in detail and David Reed gets steamed up at the Tees Cottage Pumping Station at Darlington in this two part article.
