Patchwork and Quilting  |  May 2012
This month we review the wonderful exhibition, A Gift of Quilts, showcasing all the quilts made to be given to every country taking part in the Games. I felt it gave a snapshot of quilting in the UK today. Links Past and Present looks at an exhibition that displayed old and new quilts – amazing developments.
The projects cover a variety of techniques – piecing, The Parasol Design, Bella Bliss and Chocolate Rail Fence, appliqué, Nautical Quilt and The Calendar Quilt block and Extra featuring Honey Bees. You can also Meet Roz Johnson, the quilt designer. The Baby Changing Bag is a very useful item.
There are many ways in which quilters can help others and the work described in Thread of Hope may encourage you to help. Quilters enjoy meeting each other and speakers play an important part in a group’s calendar. I’m Giving a Talk... may give you pause for thought!
