MARY LATTIMORE
Classically trained LA harpist takes her inspiration from Croatia and the English coast.
LILTING MELODIES, REMINISCENT of the sea, roll from Mary Lattimore’s harp in her new album Silver Ladders. Released in the autumn, it bridges the gap between classical harmonies and experimental rock; it’s a style the musician has been perfecting over the last decade since her stint with psychedelic folk band the Valerie Project.
Lattimore’s musical journey began when she was a child. Her mother was a harpist and it’s clear that passion laid down the path for her own career. “My mum wanted me to learn how to play and I started taking lessons when I was 11,” she reveals. “I didn’t really want to do it at first, but I went on to love it. I’m really lucky to have that role model.”
