Ambitious ambient solo project from Thieves Kitchen guitarist Phil Mercy.
IF CHANGE IS as good as a rest, Phil Mercy must be fully rejuvenated. The musician behind Blind Convergence has switched from the Canterbury-inspired songs of Thieves Kitchen – the British-Swedish group, now on hiatus, which featured his wife Amy Darby – to full-on experimental electronica. His bold mixture of synthesised loops, ambient sequences and spoken-word samples with guitar textures is impressive, and it all came about thanks to Thieves Kitchen keyboard player Thomas Johnson.
