INTERVIEW DANIELLE WOODWARD
shared values
I wanted to write a book that spoke to today’s children and told them it’s OK to be different, to be an outsider, because you can still be successful and do cool things. The stories are based on my life experience; there aren’t many children’s books where the main protagonist is black and disabled, and there was nothing like that when I was growing up, so I hope it will help kids relate to what I went through and encourage them to start conversations.
