One
decent side effect of being old is that I’ve seen the remarkable transition of Nintendo first hand.
I wasn’t there for its Hanafuda and Love Hotel days, but I was there to witness its early arcade games and amazing Game & Watch releases, its relatively small splash with the NES (in the UK at least) and its utter dominance during the 16-bit and handheld eras with the SNES and Game Boy respectively. I witnessed the technical brilliance of the N64, loved the Game Boy Advance and was second in line to get a GameCube at my local Game. I championed the Wii and the DS, was amazed by the 3D of the 3DS and was just as baffled as everyone else in the office when the Wii U was finally revealed.
