DISNEY+ Take out 50% of the dialogue, dub the remainder into Japanese and throw in a few more shots of nature looking pretty and Pixar’s latest could very well be a Studio Ghibli film. There are boat-loads of similarities t o Hayao Miyazaki’s work here: from the story, which is reminiscent of his fish-out-of-water tale Ponyo; to the little boys who, in a dream sequence, get to fly on makeshift planes (Miyazaki does love his aviation); to an expressive cat who almost steals the whole film.
