ROUND UP
Korean-made Netflix Original SPACE SWEEPERS (out now, SVOD) centres on a motley crew of junk scavengers. After stumbling upon a young girl who turns out to be an android housing a nuke, they first try to sell her, then warm to her. It’s not massively original, but the interactions of its squabbling found-family hold plenty of charm. Fans of 1996 teen witch flick The Craft may already own THE CRAFT: LEGACY (8 March, Blu-ray/DVD) – the download dropped back in November. Feeling more like a remake, this follow-up centres on a trio of gothy outsiders more interested in making people nicer than revenge. We said: “The low level of nastiness means this barely qualifies as horror.Instead, it’s a supernatural coming-of-age movie…A respectful sequel that updates the mythology and builds on the first film’s themes.” 2003’s Lovecraft-inspired BEYOND REANIMATOR (out now, Blu-ray) sees Jeffrey Combs’s mad scientist Herbert West locked up in prison.Unfortunately he’s still experimenting, and has worked out how to remove a person’s “nanoplasma” (read: soul) and place it in a new body. This third entry in Brian Yuzna’s horror-comedy series leans into the comedy even more: brace yourself for a scrap between a rat and a severed penis. Finally, box sets of DOOM PATROL season two and LOVECRAFT COUNTRY season one are both out now (Blu-ray/DVD), as is a 50th anniversary DVD of MR BENN featuring a new documentary. A complete set of NOS4A2 (Blu-ray/DVD) follows on 8 March.
