After sailing for 46 years, Moby Corse, one of Europe’s longestserving ferries, has moved from Italy’s Moby Lines to the fleet of Vado Ligure-based operator Ferry Med Srl for €8 million to sail on a new link with Corsica.
The 19,593gt vessel, built in 1978, ran for many years between Dover and Calais as the DFDSowned Dana Anglia, taking 1,240 passengers and 400 cars, with power from twin Pielstick main engines for a speed of 20.5 knots.
Her Dover days came to an end in 2009, when she was purchased by Moby Lines to mainly undertake sailings to Corsica. She was part of a ten-strong fleet of ships ranging in size from the 800-passenger/105-car Moby Ale (1969/2,838gt) to the 36,284gt Moby Aki, built in 2005 with space for 2,080 passengers and 720 cars, and the 36,039gt Moby Wonder, dating from 2001.
