I was talking to an old friend the other day. We were both riding mountain bikes back in what I like to think of as the ‘breakfast time of the sport’ – a suitable time after the dawn, but still early enough – and he remarked about the ‘glory days’.

We swapped stories about going to our first events and seeing the superheroes of the sport mingling with the rest of us, normal, folks. We marvelled at the super trick components that would have us pressing noses to bike shop window glass, or pawing at locked cabinets, just to see the CNCd loveliness contained within.
