IT,S BEEN A GOOD YEAR
WORDS PAUL HORRELL
Stratosphere-inhabiting hypercars are all very well, but our biggest driving smiles in 2021 came from cars we can relate to. Step forward the Toyota GR Yaris and Hyundai i20N: superbly judged cars for real-road speeds, at real-world prices.
In an era when motor shows don’t really have a place, it’s worth mentioning two concept cars, and a gain they’re pitched at c ompany plans a race the relatable end of the spectrum. The Porsche Mission R looks great, and the series for it. Porsche doesn’t say explicitly, but heavily implies, that this’ll be the basis of the next Cayman too. These people already make a great-driving EV, so bring it on we say. The other standout concept is the electric Renault 5, which will replace the Zoe. If you remember the original 5, this one’s retro-reinvention will make you feel warm. If you aren’t that old, the new car just looks excellently modern. A cunning balance.
