Sam Coomes and Janet Weiss are in a good place, creatively revitalised and signed to the supportive Sub Pop; 10 years ago, though, it was a little different. “We were very happy with [2013’s] Mole City,” says Coomes, “but it seemed like there wasn’t a lot of interest in it. I don’t want to ‘poor me’ about it, but you do think, ‘Why do I go through all this?’”
