In the middle of 1960 Go Kart announced their new 800 model which at that time revolutionized the shape of the kart chassis. United States Patent Number D190226 was issued to protect the design. As far back as 1957 Duffy had been working in the Go Kart research and development department on a chassis that he referred to as the Mole. Incidentally the Mole would also be a name that Duffy would give to an FKE kart that he would make almost a decade later. The 1957 Mole after almost 3 years of development work turned into a chassis designated as the Go Kart 800.
Some 10 prototypes were said to have been made during the development of the 800 model. The 800 series of frames initially had welded on engine mounts, welded on floor and seat back firewall and came without a front bumper just like all the previous Go Karts. The Go Kart 800 was a very successful chassis winning many of the major American National Karting Championships as well as important races in Asia, Australia, Europe and Mexico. Such was the demand for the Go Kart 800 that it was not unusual for the machine shop at the Azusa factory to work overtime.
