1. Ishan Kishan India
Drafted in for the final match of a series India had already lost to Bangladesh, Kishan became the seventh man to score an ODI double-century, blitzing 210 from 131 deliveries to propel his team to a thumping victory. With his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan falling for a sixth single-figure score in nine innings, the loyalty of the Indian selectors is being tested. Kishan, who is 13 years Dhawan’s junior, will surely have the opportunity to make an opening spot his own ahead of the World Cup in October.
2. Ben Duckett England
Having waited six years for a Test recall, Duckett seized his opportunity by racing to a maiden century shortly after lunch on day one of England’s series in Pakistan. His partnership with Zak Crawley – 233 in 35.4 overs of carnage – set the tone for what followed as the Notts left-hander went on to rattle off a brace of fifties in the second Test at Multan and a 78-ball 82* to seal the whitewash at Karachi. Selected primarily for his prowess against spin, Duckett has now earned the chance to show he can be a longterm opener in all conditions.
